Newman’s Latest Collection of Political Books.
It’s been quite a wild ride on the American political scene. Our President has been under great scrutiny, the Team Party has emerged with a major national presence, and the Conservatives are wondering who may be their next great hope. If you are a reader of political books, we are more than sure you have heard from a number of recent Newman clients.
One of the most intertesting titles comes from award-winning journalist and political analyst for MSNBC television, Richard Wolffe. The book, entitled REVIVAL is the dramatic inside story of the defining period of the Obama White House. It is an epic tale that follows the president and his inner circle from the crisis of defeat to historic success. Wolffe draws on unrivaled access to the West Wing to write a natural sequel to his critically acclaimed book, RENEGADE, about the president and his campaign. Starting at the first anniversary of the inauguration, Wolffe paints a portrait of a White House at work under exceptional strain across a sweeping set of challenges: from health care reform to a struggling economy, from two wars to terrorism.
If you’ve been listening or watching, we are sure you have heard from best-selling authors John Heilemann and Mark Halperin. Their book, GAME CHANGE, was a runaway bestseller in hardcover and the paperback has done quite well, especially with the new Afterword. In 2008 , the presidential election became blockbuster entertainment. Everyone was watching as the race for the White House unfolded like something from the realm of fiction. The meteoric rise and historic triumph of Barack Obama. The shocking fall of the House of Clinton—and the improbable resurrection of Hillary as Obama’s partner and America’s face to the world. The mercurial performance of John McCain and the mesmerizing emergence of Sarah Palin. But despite the wall-to-wall media coverage of this spellbinding drama, remarkably little of the real story behind the headlines had been told—until now. In GAME CHANGE, John Heilemann and Mark Halperin pull back the curtains on the Obama, Clinton, McCain, and Palin campaigns. Based on hundreds of interviews with the people who lived thestory, Game Change is a reportorial tour de force that reads like a fast-paced novel.
If you are interested in taking a light-hearted break from seriousness of politics, why not check out THE OBAMA IDENTITY: A Novel (Or Is It?). Written by seven-time NY Times best selling author Ed Klein and former NY Congressman John LeBoutiellier, this book takes a satirical look at our current President and makes sure that no parties go unscathed! If you like the following description, this is definitely a book for you:
WASHINGTON, D.C.-In the summer of 2004, CIA agent Theodore J. Higginbothem III was summoned by his boss to a hush-hush meeting in the basement of the National Museum of Health. “Higgy,” his boss whispered in his ear, “the CIA has a top-secret, off-the-books domestic spying operation in which we keep tabs on our most ambitious presidential hopefuls. I want you to do a complete workup on Barack Hussein Obama. Where was he born? Is he a Muslim? Is he a socialist? Who is behind him? And what is Obama’s real agenda.” THE OBAMA IDENTITY follows Higgy and his team as they travel all over the world-from Chicago to Mombasa to Honolulu to Jakarta and St. Petersburg, Russia-and encounter Birthers and Bushes, Katie Couric and Muslim clerics. Along their hilarious and madcap journey, Higgy and his crack operatives discover startling secrets about the 44th president of the United States-a man some call “The Chosen One” and others refer to as ” an Obamanation.” Among the many startling revelations in THE OBAMA IDENTITY:
- What Obama’s Kenyan grandmother says about his birthplace
- How a Muslim imam taught young Obama to apologize for America and bow to foreigners
- How the Reverend Jeremiah Wright taught Obama to use the TelePromTer
- What happened to the videotapes showing Obama high-fiving the Reverend Wright after one of his anti-American sermons
- How financier George Soros brought about the collapse of the American economy to help elect Obama
- Why Obama blames everything on George W. Bush except Katie Couric’s dismal ratings
- How the Russians blackmailed Obama into canceling America’s anti-missile systems in Eastern Europe
- Who came up with the idea of carving Obama’s face on Mount Rushmore right next to Abe Lincoln’s?

Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose
Author: Tony Hsieh
Publisher: Business Plus, Hachette Book Group
Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh Turns to Newman Communications for Radio Publicity Tour
Tony Hsieh is known for running one of the most successful online retail businesses, but when it comes to the publicity of his first book, Delivering Happiness, he turns to Newman Communications. Tasked with a radio publicity campaign, Newman Communications has booked Hsieh with more than 20 national and local radio interviews, including SiriusXM, WHUD-FM (metro NYC), KVON-AM (San Francisco), and Business Talk Radio.
Book Description:
In Delivering Happiness, Hsieh shows how investing in happiness not only inspires loyalty and trust in an age of constant uncertainty and cynicism, but also how it can really pay off.
It’s a hard-won insight after a long road of serial adventures in entrepreneurialism that he began as a boy. By age nine Hsieh started his first venture—a worm farm. Next was his mail-order button making business in middle school, and then his pizza-making business in college. At the age of 24, Hsieh sold LinkExchange to Microsoft for $265 million, the first “real” company he co-founded. From pizza, parties, and poker to Venture Frogs (an investment company he also co-founded), Hsieh eventually arrived at Zappos. In the early days, he was determined to grow it into the world’s largest shoe store online. He succeeded. But the real story was how he evolved Zappos from an online shoe retailer committed to superior customer service to a company devoted to delivering WOW through service to employees and customers alike. It was a transformation that might never have happened if Hsieh’s survival instincts—and his own money—didn’t kick in during the company’s near bankruptcy during the dot-com bust.
All of these insights have contributed to Hsieh’s vivid and comprehensive vision of what his company stands for: delivering happiness to the world.
Delivering Happiness encourages all business leaders to find their own way to make their company not only more profitable, but also a more rewarding place to work.

NEWMAN COMMUNICATIONS SCORES WITH THE NHL!
It’s been an incredibly exciting season for the National Hockey League (NHL). The league enjoyed an increase in television ratings, arenas being filled to capacity, merchandise sales growing, and significantly higher traffic to the NHL.com website. Knowing that the playoffs and Stanley Cup offered a chance to drive even broader exposure, the NHL called on Newman Communications for support.
Over the past month, Newman Communications has coordinated weekly radio tours for the league, working with alumni from the various playoff teams, to help increase TV viewership on both NBC and Versus. What initially looked to be a one week experiment turned into a month-long partnership and one that will likely extend into next season.
Throughout the publicity campaign, Newman has had the privilege of working with such hockey luminaries as Stan Mikita, Brian Engbloom, Denis Savard, Dave Poulin, Keith Primeau, Pierre Pilote, and Brendan Shannahan. These legends of the game have been touting the league, the game, and the teams to listening audiences throughout the U.S. and Canada. The feedback from the players and the stations has been tremendous.
According to Kim McGovern, Senior Publicist for the NHL, “Newman Communications were a dream to work with on arranging radio tours to promote the 2010 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They came in on short notice and were able to produce results that not only fulfilled our needs but exceeded our expectations. They way they handled everything, from securing to facilitating interviews, made it an extremely easy process for everyone involved and delivered real value.”
Newman Communications extends a hearty congratulations to the NHL for a banner season and looks forward to an even better one in 2010-2011.

Dale Brown, Bestselling Author of Rogue Forces, Returns To Newman With His Newest Title
Executive Intent
Author: Dale Brown
Publisher: William Morrow
After the success with his first book publicity campaign for ” Rogue Forces ” , Dale Brown has returned to Newman Communications with his newest title, “Executive Intent”. Brown, the New York Times-bestselling master of military suspense, is back with an action-packed tale of intrigue and technological weaponry that puts the world’s superpowers in contest for dominance of space as well as Earth’s oceans. Newman has produced another book publicity campaign, and spread the word on radio stations including: LA Talk Radio, WBZ in Boston, CNN, Cable Radio Network and stations in Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit and more.
About the Book:
The United States begins to establish the ultimate High Ground, a space-based anti-ballistic missile and anti-satellite system in Earth’s orbit, which could protect not only America, but also her allies from attack. The most controversial part of the system is Mjollnir, a precision-guided artificial meteorite that can strike almost anywhere on the planet in a matter of seconds. China responds by setting up dozens of anti-satellite missile sites around the world aimed at America’s Armstrong Space Station. Meanwhile, a series of accidents in space, the possibility of an arms race with China, the upcoming elections and a worsening economic outlook all put the pressure on U.S. President Joseph Gardner to cancel the weapon satellite system and call for treaties to eliminate all space-based weapons. But instead of negotiating, China surges its military forces for the first time since the Korean War by invading Somalia and Yemen and capturing the vital shipping lanes in the Gulf of Aden.
Now, America’s vaunted nuclear aircraft carrier battle groups are in the crosshairs of Chinese hypersonic missiles and hunter-killer submarines. Russia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and others see America’s military dominance eroding and rush to take advantage.
