The ADHD Effect On Marriage

The ADHD Effect On Marriage

Melissa Orlov wanted to get her message across to not just people with ADHD but to all involved in a relationship.  Bringing her message to us for a Print and TV Book Publicity Tour,  Newman was able to bring Melissa’s expertise to such national exposure as The Today Show , The New York Times , The Boston Globe, CNN’s American Morning and many more.

Most couples who have ADHD affecting their marriages have no idea why they are so unhappy.  They just know that they have tried hard to make things better, and are intensely frustrated that nothing seems to work.  Because they are unaware that ADHD is playing a role, couples in these relationships often pick exactly the wrong approaches to solving their marital problems – approaches that would make sense for most couples, but not when one or both partners has ADHD.  But here’s the good news.  Once couples understand the patterns that ADHD introduces into a relationship they can turn their marriage around.

The ADHD Effect on Marriage, Understand and Rebuild Your Relationship in Six Steps isn’t about a “miracle cure,” but about providing the knowledge and tools couples need to reshape their relationship into the loving, supportive, exciting partnership they once envisioned.

Author Melissa Orlov takes a personal interest in her topic as both her husband and her daughter were diagnosed with ADHD.  After 20 +  years, her marriage is intact and her daughter is doing great!

Our Book Publicity Campaign continues with Melissa with an additional  article placed  on sheknows.com just in time for summer romance.

Book publicity helps promote a rare glimpse into Scientology

INSIDE SCIENTOLOGY: The Story of America’s Most Secretive Religion

Author: Janet Reitman
Publisher: Houghton-Mifflin

Inside Scientology

Inside Scientology - Janet Reitman

If all you know about Scientology is that Tom Cruise and John Travolta are practitioners of the religion, then Janet Reitman has written the book for you.

Newman Communications helped educate and inform radio listeners nationwide with a radio focused book publicity tour for Janet Reitman’s controversial book INSIDE SCIENTOLOGY: The Story of America’s Most Secretive Religion.  Janet completed a 30-city radio book tour, which included KFI-AM/Los Angeles, Talk Radio Network,  Sirius/XM Radio America’s Radio News Network and more. Janet also recently hosted a live online Q&A about Inside Scientology with the Washington Post, discussing the  extensive research she did preparing for the book.

About the book

Inside Scientology is the defining work on the faith by the Rolling Stone journalist.  It confirms the astonishing truth about life within the controversial religion.

The book is based on confidential documents, over one hundred interviews with current and former Scientologists, and five years of research. Reitman reveals all, starting with how the singular L. Ron Hubbard transformed a self-help group into a worldwide spiritual corporation. After Hubbard’s death in 1986, a young acolyte named David Miscavige assumed control; since then, he has overseen some of the church’s greatest triumphs — among them a controversial billion-dollar IRS tax exemption and Tom Cruise’s emergence as a vocal advocate — while also creating a climate of fear and intimidation, according to ex-members whose stories of abuse Reitman shares. Reitman is the first to examine Miscavige’s twenty-five-year reign and what it might mean for the future of the church.

About Janet Reitman

Janet Reitman was a finalist for a National Magazine Award in 2007 for the Rolling Stone story “Inside Scientology,” from which this book grew. She is a contributing editor at Rolling Stone. Her work has appeared in GQ, Men’s Journal, the Los Angeles Times Sunday Magazine, and the Washington Post, among other publications. She holds a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.

Newman’s Book Publicity Kicking off a Great New Year

Happy New Year from everyone here at Newman Communications!  We are all very excited for what 2011 will bring for the ever-evolving publishing industry.  It’s been a pretty unsteady two years for everyone involved, but as the dust settles we hope the industry will be better for it. Here at Newman we are very excited by a number of book publicity projects that we have been invited to work on.

In the month of January and into February, we will be working on one of the best books from 2010 — UNBROKEN by Laura Hillenbrand.  Coming off her incredible success with SEABISCUIT, Hillenbrand’s new book details the inspiring true story of a man who lived through a series of catastrophes almost too incredible to be believed.  According to the author, the story of Louie Zamperini–a juvenile delinquent-turned-Olympic runner-turned-Army hero — is spellbinding.  Readers must agree as Laura has hit #1 on the NY Times list.  Congrats Laura!

Newman is also thrilled to be working with Stacy Schiff, the author of another NY Times Bestseller — CLEOPATRA.  The book  brings to life the most intriguing woman in the history of the world: Cleopatra, the last queen of Egypt.  The reviews on Stacy’s book have been remarkable and certainly well deserved.  Check them out on Amazon

In addition, Newman has many other great projects in the works. Interested in politics?  Keep an eye out for former Mayor of Providence, Buddy Cianci’s POLITICS AND PASTA.  If it’s business and marketing you are looking for, grab copies of BRANDED! by Bernie Brennan and Lori Schafer or KILLING GIANTS by Stephen Denny.  It’s a new year and time to make some healthy resolutions.  Both YOUNGER SEXIER YOU by Dr. Eric Braverman and the WEIGHT WATCHERS NEW COMPLETE  COOKBOOK can help.

In February, James Redfield and Grand Central Publishing will be releasing the long awaited fourth installment of his best-selling Celestine Series and Newman will be there to help.  Look for James on your local TV affiliates on February 15th during his TV Satellite tour and hear him on the radio on the 16th.

Stay tuned for more news in the coming weeks and months!

America’s Favorite Forensic Anthropologist Returns in Kathy Reichs’ 13th Novel, Spider Bones

Spider Bones - Kathy Reichs

Spider Bones - Kathy Reichs

Bestselling author, Kathy Reichs – whose books have inspired the TV show, Bones – is back with her thirteenth novel featuring America’s favorite forensic anthropologist, Temperance Brennan. Book publicity firm, Newman Communications, scheduled Reichs with more than 20 national and local radio interviews, including USA Radio Network, CJAD-AM (Montreal), Northeast Public Radio, and Lifestyle Radio Network.

Book Description:

In Spider Bones, forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan is called to the scene of a drowning in Quebec. The victim’s fingerprints identify him as John Lowery – an American soldier who had been declared dead in Vietnam in 1968 and buried long ago in North Carolina. How could a man have died twice, and how did his body end up in Canada? As Brennan’s investigation progresses, a riveting and complex tale of murder and deceit unfolds in Spider Bones.

About the Author:

Kathy Reichs, like her character Temperance Brennan, is a forensic anthropologist, formerly for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in North Carolina and currently for the Laboratoire de Sciences Judiciaires et de Médecine Légale for the province of Québec. She is one of only 82 forensic anthropologists ever certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology, is past Vice President of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and serves on the National Police Services Advisory Board in Canada. Reichs’ first book, Déjà Dead, catapulted her to fame and became a New York Times bestseller and won the 1997 Ellis Award for Best First Novel. Her novel, Devil Bones, was a #1 New York Times bestseller.
